The 2023 HackerRank Developer Skills Report ranked Java, Python, SQL, C++, and JavaScript the programming language skills as being in greatest demand by employers and developers.

Following those programming languages were skills in Bash, C#, Go, TypeScript, and R.

Demand for skills in TypeScript, Go, and PHP grew fastest this year, with Go assessments rising 301% and TypeScript assessments increasing 392%.

Demand for Swift and Ruby capabilities declined, with HackerRank estimating Swift assessments comprised just 80% of 2021's volume, while Ruby assessments constituted 66%.

HackerRank found the technology industry has continued to expand, although growth this year decelerated compared to last year.
