Lizard-Like Robot for Mars Exploration

Powered by a 12 Volt lithium-ion battery, the lizard robot is equipped with wires, voltage regulators, and control units to facilitate stable swinging motions and effective grasping of soil and rocks.

A lizard-inspired robot developed by researchers at China's Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics could be used to improve existing rover models for navigating Mars-like terrain.

The biomimetic quadruped robot is built using 3D-printed resin and powered by a 12-volt lithium-ion battery.

It is designed to mimic the creeping movements of desert lizards and features two hinges on each leg, a two-servo hip joint for stable lifting, an active rotational ankle, and flexible toes with claws for gripping.

Tests revealed that the robot could navigate granular soils and rocky surfaces.
